Designing Your Life
In 2017, I read Designing Your Life. It changed everything in the course of my career and was the catalyst for my transformation into coaching as my professional purpose. Designing Your Life shows us how the same design thinking responsible for amazing technology, products, and spaces can be used to design and build your career and your life - one full of fulfillment and joy, constantly creativity and productivity, and full of surprises. Using proven methodologies developed at Stanford University and made popular by the bestselling books Designing Your Life and Designing Your New Work Life by Bill Burnett and Dave Evans, design-based thinking can be a massive unlock to build a more purposeful career. I’ve been a Certified Designing Your Life Coach since 2019 and use the full range of tools, principles, and thinking in the DYL world in my coaching practice.
Leadership Versatility Index 360
The LVI 360 is designed to increase the versatility of leaders – as well as organizations. It gets past the superficial question of what a leader does “good or bad.” Through a full 360-degree feedback process informed by a full circle of a leader’s stakeholders, it focuses on what specific adjustments they could make to be even more effective right now. The LVI synthesizes more than 100 years of research in management and in psychology in one easy-to-understand framework.
The LVI is built around a patented Too Little / Too Much rating scale. Using this scale, the leader, working with their coach, can quickly distinguish their strengths from their strengths overused — as well as those areas they need to strengthen further to be more effective. These insights empower leaders to create a development plan for expanding their versatility and elevating their impact. As part of an integrated coaching experience, this 360 tool is hugely additive in building self-awareness and confidence.
Personal Brand Wayfinder
Just like a brand or a product, everyone has an essence. Essence is the most essential you. It’s all the things that make up your identity and brand. It’s your way of being in the world where you create and contribute, most naturally and meaningfully. And when we are able to work from that essence as a leader, we are able to create and contribute with authenticity and vitality. Having a clear and connected view of your essence becomes the ultimate companion for navigating your career, to making decisions, and to growing into the creative leader you know you’re capable of. So in service of that amazing challenge, I’ve created the Personal Brand Wayfinder. It’s a proprietary framework and process for living and leading from essence—all the components that make up your unique identity. It fully leverages my marketing mindset and the power of coaching and self-discovery into a curated coaching experience to understand and live into your brand.
Strength Deployment Inventory 2.0
The Strength Deployment Inventory (SDI) assessment tool that helps us understand our motivational value system – or put more simply, why we behave the way we do. This relationship awareness tool looks at motives and behaviours when we are at our best, and when we are in conflict. By understanding our own and others’ motivational value system (MVS), we get insight into what’s happening beneath the surface to drive our behaviours. It equips us to appreciate differences rather than moving into unnecessary conflict. It provides teams with a common understanding, language and insight into how we can develop effective and productive relationships with each other. As we gain a deeper understanding of ourselves and others, we will be able to lead and work with clarity and empathy, navigate conflict, and ultimately build stronger teams.
I use SDI assessment as a foundation of all coaching engagements to build awareness, understanding and common language as we initiate the coaching journey.
